Using Law of Attraction: the Downside to Deliberate Creation

Law of attraction is a fundamental universal law and the foundation of deliberate creation -- that is deliberately creating the life you want.

The concept of law of attraction isn't new. It's been popularized as a term over the past 20 years or so, but it's also referred to or described throughout the "new thought" archives going back well over 100 years..

But here's the kicker: law of attraction has a downside. It works whether you are aware of it or not.

Overcoming procrastination and law of attraction

Procrastination is something I find myself doing almost habitually every day -- which of course really intereferes with allowing law of attraction to work in my favor on a daily basis.

My procrastination may not be around everything ... in fact it's typically around very few things. But it's often around ultimately important things.

It's an interesting phenomenon. Typically, I will catch myself procrastinating around something I know intellectually is important for me to do and then I'll proceed to beat myself up for not doing it.

What a terrible recipe to follow. It's a sure fire way to create vibrational misalignment with what I'm intending. And it's definitely not going to support me in my intention to live a life of inspired abundance today.

But it's not always so easy to overcome procrastination. I often find there's some lingering "thing" going on that is causing me to procrastinate on those very things I've convinced myself I must do.

I've learned that procrastination is generally a symptom of some type of underlying resistance. The resistance may be due to a lack of belief about my ability to do something, or a fear or doubt that's sitting in the back of my mind. It's often barely conscious, but if I'm procrastinating around something then it's there somewhere in the shadows.

Here's an example.

I often find myself procrastinating around my book keeping. I convince myself I don't like it and so tend to put it off. But as I've examined what's going on more closely, I've come to realize I have an underlying fear of doing the book keeping improperly. And in my mind, I will even fast forward from there and imagine having some type of penalty slapped upon me by the tax man.

In response to this fear I procrastinate.

To overcome my procrastination what I've learned to do is to step back, take a breath and remind myself that millions of people in the world easily do their own book keeping. In fact, I probably do a better job with my book keeping than most. And I know I'll feel better once I've sat down and completed it.

That changes my thinking around the task and enables me to move forward through the procrastination. Once I've done that I am realigned vibrationally with my intentions and once again in an allowing state. Law of attraction is once again my friend.

So if you catch yourself procrastinating around a particular task, take a momen to get quiet and tune into what is really playing in your mind. Lock into the underlying feeling or emotion that's the root of the issue. Once you've located the root throught or feeling, change it to something that feels better.

You will immediately become unstuck and able to overcome or work through your procrastination. And then you'll be freely allowing law of attraction to work for you.

Why Is Gratitude An Important Part of Using Law Of Attraction?

Have you read or heard those different self-help gurus who say that gratitude is an important part of deliberately using law of attraction in your life?

Do you ever wonder if the advice works and if so, why it works? Me too -- especially the why part.

So I've spent a fair amount of time reading and experimenting around the topic in order to understand it better.

I think I first heard about the power of gratitude from Abraham in one their audios. The way they explained it, and I've come to understand this as truth, gratitude is a powerful way to bridge the vibrational gap between where I am and what I want.

As they explain, and as I've focused on in prior posts, most of us find it difficult to shift our thoughts to a, say "level 10" in vibration, if we're mired in current thinking that is maybe, say a "level 3". The gap is too wide.

But finding something we're grateful for is much easier. So by placing our focus on things we have right now for which we're thankful, we are able to begin bridge the gap and begin to realign our thoughts to a level of vibration that move us closer to where we want to be.

Using this technique, I can shift myself to, say a "level 6" or a "7" relatively quickly.

Both Abraham and Bob Proctor teach that in order for something to manifest, we must be a vibrational match to it. That's where gratitude becomes such an important part of effectively and deliberately using Law of Attraction. It assists us in aligning our vibration.

And there's more. There is a growing body of scientific and academic research that backs up the important role gratitude can play in living a happier, healthier life.

Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar is the head of the Positive Psychology program at Harvard University. In his book, Happier: Learn the Secrets to Daily Joy and Lasting Fulfillment Dr Ben-Shahar says that research studies now suggest the habit of keeping a daily “gratitude journal” can lead to a higher level of emotional and physical well being.

So the evidence is pretty clear that it works. And I see the evidence in my own life. I can "measure" it by the way I feel. Focusing on the things I'm grateful for makes me feel better -- my problems start to feel smaller, I gain a sense of relief, and because of the relief I'm able to shift my focus onto more things I'm grateful for.

I'm able to "feel" the power of gratitude at work within me and I "feel" my vibration rising. And as that happens, I know I'm now once again using law of attraction in a deliberate way that best serves me.

So that's my explanation of why gratitude is such an important part of using law of attraction. Thanks for reading.

The Downside To Law Of Attraction

A while ago, I posted an article discussing what I called the "downside to the law of attraction".

The downside I referred to was that you get whatever you focus upon. So if you neglect to train yourself to focus on what you want, rather than on what you don't want, you will continue to get more of what you don't want.

For me that is the reason why personal development is so key. In order for me to create wealth and freedom in my life, I must first teach myself to focus on the wealth and freedom that I desire -- rather than focusing on its absence.

The better I get at doing that, the more quickly I'm going to attract the ideas, circumstances and inspiration that will lead me to create more wealth and freedom in my life.

So to me that's the whole point of a self improvement (personal development) regimen. It's about training my thinking patterns in a way that will better serve me.

As I've said before, this is so deceptively simple, yet it can be extremely challenging. I heard an audio by Dr. Wayne Dyer quite some time ago in which he said that we have something like 60,000 thoughts per day, but for most of us it's essentially the same 60,000 thoughts as we had yesterday.

Law of attraction works, whether we're aware of it or not. If we're not aware, then that's the downside -- law of attraction still works. We just give up the opportunity to apply it deliberately in our day-to-day lives.

So for now, forgive me ... it's time for my daily visualization. :-)

Law Of Attraction Works – Whether You Use It Deliberately Or Not

In our work, we're very focused on the deliberate use of Law of Attraction.

This law states, simply, that you attract into your experience whatever it is you focus on.

Period.

This is very powerful. For it means that any of us has the power to create whatever life we desire simply by applying Law of Attraction in a deliberate way.

But there's a downside to Law of Attraction. And it's this ... you attract into your experience whatever it is you focus on.

Now if your focus is on what you don’t want – too many bills, too much debt, things that have gone wrong – then guess what you are going to get? More of those things you do not want.

And so there’s the downside.

By not being consciously aware of what you are focusing on, should your default position be on the things you don’t want (which tends to be the case for the majority of people), then Law of Attraction gives you more of the same.

This is why the deliberate use of Law of Attraction is so key. It is in this way you can control what you are attracting.

This can be a very elusive concept.

Remember, the thoughts you have lead to words, which lead to a feeling, which leads to an action, which determines the vibration you are sending.

Law of Attraction matches your vibration.

So, if that’s the case, then your job is to mind your own vibration. It's your job to ensure your are in vibrational harmony with what you want.

So how do you mind your vibration? By being very mindful of and monitoring the language you are using in your conversations. And taking the time to correct your language whenever you catch yourself.

Now, there’s one conversation in particular which requires very specific attention. That’s the conversation you are having with yourself.

You know what I’m referring to. It’s always there. Even right now while you are reading this.
There’s that little voice in your head which is always commentating of what you are seeing, what you are doing, what you are thinking – everything.

And it’s easy to recognize when you’re paying attention. It may say things like “that’s stupid”, “that was dumb”, “this isn’t going to work”, “I always fail”, etc.

Well, in everyone of those examples, your self talk is entirely focused on what you don’t want. And Law of Attraction doesn’t know the difference between what you want and what you don’t want. It only gives you what you are focused on.

Realize that every time you say something like that, whether out loud to someone else or to yourself, you are sabotaging yourself and your results.

So monitor your language diligently. Each time you catch yourself, pause and then correct.
“So, what is it I do want?”

“That’s interesting”, “this works for lots of people, it can work for me too”, “I always succeed when I put my mind to it”.

Begin monitoring your language and you will start to get better at refocusing on the things that you do want.

And as you get better at that, the better your results will be as well. You will be avoiding the downside of Law of Attraction because you will be applying the Law of Attraction deliberately.
